How to install SQL Server 2005, procedures for the registry key to increase the value of the counter

Before the start of the SQL Server installation, Microsoft SQL Server Setup Installation and Configuration Checker (SCC) will verify the counter registry key values. If SCC can not verify the existing registry entries, or SCC can not run lodctr.exe system program, the SCC check fails, causing installation blocked.

Error editing the registry may severely damage your system. Change the registry entry, it is recommended that you back up all important computer data.

Counter registry entries manually set the incremental
1. In Microsoft Windows 2003 or Windows XP desktop, click "Start", "Run", then "Open", type regedit.exe, and then click "OK." In Windows 2000, use regedt32.exe Start Registry Editor.

2. Navigate to the following registry key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Perflib]

"Last Counter" = dword: 00000ed4 (5276)

"LastHelp" = dword: 00000ed5 (5277)

3. Last step of the "Last Counter" value (5276) to the following registry key "Perflib \ 004" or "Perflib \ 009" of the "Counter" item of the maximum matching, and the step of "Last Help" values (5277) to the following registry key "Perflib \ 004" or "Perflib \ 009" of the "Help" item in the maximum match.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Perflib \ 004]

Note that 004 is an example of the Chinese language, while the 009 is an example of the English language. "Last Counter" and "Last Help" values are dynamically allocated by the Windows; these two values differ because of the computer.

4. Modification "\ Perflib" item in the "Last Counter" and "Last Help" values in the value: In the right pane, right-click "Last Counter" or "Last Help", click "Edit", then Click the "Base =" Decimal "", in the "Value data" set value, and then click "OK." If necessary, repeat the above process for another item, and then close the Registry Editor.

5. Re-run SQL Server Setup.
